My father died from Lewy Body on his 80th birthday on July 13th, 2010. We need to get word of this disease out badly. We had no idea what Lewy Body was!

Ref Will Stewart Tiverton Devon...................My husband Will had PD diagnosed in 2001 and Lewy Body eventually in 2005. After a cricis in 2005 he was hospitalised at Melrose EMI Unit attached to Tiverton Hospital Devon. He was after 13 weeks of assessments and medical supervision with Medication trials he was discharged home to be cared for by myself and a team of carers I employed to have him at home for as long as possible. I have 60 hours care paid for each week and I and the family cover 108 hour each week..... He has been prescribed a set of daily meds since Feb. 2005 and this continues at home with a review each 6th week when he is in Melrose for a Respite week to give me a break.... Meds consist of Sinimet, Rivistigmine, Clonazapan and Haloperidol on a daily basis...... with some 'fine tuning' he seems to be managable over the past 32 months at home and, with support to me, from the Medical Doctors and other Staff professionals we get on with day to day routine. My question is how long can that level of medication continue before it becomes ineffectual to my husband? He is however showing signs of Plateau dips in this movement and varies in hallucinations and still thinks at times he is at work as a professional engineer doing prep. for machinery which needs designed or repaired for production needs??????l Your comment or reply would be much appreciated.. thankyou posted on14/10/2007

The way I set up the paypal button only allows for a single order at a time, so it is not your lack of computer skills, it is my lack of ability in predicting demand! Thank you very much for your support and I hope you don't mind having to click the button more than once!

Is it my lack of computer skills, or am I unable to order more than one pack at a time?

Looking forward to being able to purchase my Christmas cards via the Society. Will we be able to purchase cards online or will you be sending out brochures. I guess online would be less costly for the Society.

I found your article most informative. My husband died in 2001 from Lewy Bodies & Parkinsons, unfortunately Lewy Bodies was not diagnosed till the last month of his life. Diagnosis was only discovered after quite an out of character incident which meant he had to be sectioned and was hospitalised; there a very young Doctor immediately diagnosed that along with the Parkinsons he had Lewy Bodies. My family and I wished we had known more about DLB and therefore would have been more understanding about a person "freezing" and not being unable to move, also the reason for them becoming very frightened about things they are encountering mentally that we cannot have knowledge of.
Kind regards, Christina
